Tall Horsehair Vase with Braided Lid 15 1/2"h x 7 3/4"w
Horsehair pottery originated from the practice of honoring fallen war horses by incorporating their hair into pottery. Native American's believed that the spirit of the horse remained. The horsehair is applied at the second firing and leaves its carbon imprint as part of the piece.
This is one of our larger pieces standing fifteen and one half inches high and seven and one half inches wide.
This piece does have a unique lid featuring a braided loop.
Each piece is made and fired twice in our Hodgenville, KY studio and has the name of the master pottery on the base. "The Hairy Potter"
